Last month ppcnerds reported about experimental ISOs of Gentoo's 2004.3 release being put on Gentoo mirrors. Those experimental images were put off-line after few hours: the reason was that they were taking too much room on the mirror servers. So, in October, we were at about the 20th of the month, only portage and snapshots for 2004.3 were left on mirrors. Now there is one date more to remember: 15th of November. This is the official release date for 2004.3. This should include several architectures installer stages and LiveCD too. You can have a look at the release schedule for this .3 release here: although some of the release steps result as pending the official release date still stays at the 15th. So few hours left, if all goes well. On the ppc side there are good news: just look at the constantly updated release changelog and you will notice that many more supports have been added to the LiveCD. Dual 2.5 Ghz G5 is now included, PReP machines support too, and, as you can read on the changelog, special care to Old-World boxes kernel configuration was taken. The release will include x86, ppc, sparc and amd64, all of this with stages and LiveCD. So, let's wait few hours and see if the scheduled release will be the real one. Note: Update: Gentoo 2004.3 released :) Note: Update: Gentoo 2004.3 released :)
