Re: Ubuntu 4.10, The Warty Warthog

I had no problems installing Ubuntu (pre-release + updates) on a Powerbook G4 12".  It installed dual-boot as I had taken the precaution of partitioning the drive before installing OS X.
Most hardware seems to be supported, with the exception of the Broadcom Airport wireless card - a common problem as Broadcom don't supply specs or source. I suspect this card won't work on any Linux.
I've not yet got the external display to work, but have not tried very hard yet.
So do give it a try.

Installed on my Dual USB 800Mhz iBook yesterday with no issues. All hardware is supported for me, airport (not extreme) and all. This blows away the month long desktop I had to create with Gentoo, and honestly it feels 'snappier' although on Gentoo I did all the compiling and configuring. I switched mainly because I kept updating things in Gentoo and breaking my desktop. It looks like this may be the perfect distro for me on the desktop...we shall see.

Regardless, try it, hardware detection seems excellent.
