Saying that it shares hardware with latest ibook does not mean it is the same. The ibook, the powerbook and other Apple hardware share the Intrepid north bridge. That's all.

the big difference you missed is that the mac mini uses a slow ass laptop hard drive. This is why a comparison to an ibook is valid. Any activity that requires high disk usage will result in the mac mini performing more like an ibook and not an emac.
